Understand zero parent commission and tutor admin fees
Parents pay zero commission and never pay MatchMax anything, while tutors pay a one-off administrative matching fee of 1.5 lessons per match under the Terms of Service.

MatchMax charges parents nothing beyond the tuition you agree with your tutor. The MatchMax Cap.57 administrative matching fee (tutor-pays, per ToS): 100% of Lesson 1 + 50% of Lesson 2. This guide explains exactly what that means in Hong Kong dollars, and who pays what.
$0 on the parent side
Parents never pay MatchMax a matching fee, commission, or escrow. You agree an hourly rate with your tutor, and you pay that rate for tuition by FPS, bank transfer, or cash. MatchMax never holds or processes tuition payments, so there is no platform fee baked into your rate and no separate charge from us at any point. If anyone ever asks you to pay MatchMax directly for tuition, that is not how the platform works; message us straight away.
The admin fee, in plain terms
Tutors are self-employed and pay MatchMax a one-off administrative matching fee for each enrolled student or case, per the Terms of Service §15. The fee equals 1.5 lessons: the full fee for Lesson 1 plus half the fee for Lesson 2. The tutor pays it to MatchMax by FPS, and it is the tutor, not the parent, who pays it.
A worked example in HKD
Say you and the tutor agree HK$400 per hour:
- Lesson 1 admin fee: HK$400 (100% of Lesson 1)
- Lesson 2 admin fee: HK$200 (50% of Lesson 2)
- Total admin fee paid by the tutor: HK$600
You still pay the tutor the agreed HK$400 per lesson for tuition. The HK$600 comes out of the tutor's side, paid by the tutor to MatchMax by FPS. Parents do not pay MatchMax anything. After the admin fee, the tutor keeps 100% of the agreed tuition for later lessons.

What MatchMax does not promise
MatchMax does not guarantee grades, school offers, or results. The fee covers matching, verification, and support, not outcomes. What we do promise is a transparent fee structure with nothing hidden on the parent side, and tutors who keep every dollar of the agreed tuition once the one-off admin fee is settled.
