Independent Tutors: how it works
List as an independent tutor, claim cases on your commute, keep 100% after the admin fee (1.5 lessons on private; centre intros step down to free on the 4th+).
Already have a MatchMax student or parent account? No second email needed. Click Become a Tutor in your account header to activate Teaching Mode alongside your existing profile.
Independent tutors on MatchMax are self-employed operators under Cap. 57, never MatchMax employees or agents.
How it works

Create your profile
Add your grades and the MTR stations that work for you.

Pass staff review
We check documents by hand, then your card goes live with your display name or MatchMax code.

Claim cases or get requested
Claim cases near your stations, or receive parent requests.

Complete Lessons 1 & 2; keep the rest
MatchMax’s admin fee is normally 1.5 lessons (100% L1 + 50% L2), owed by you as an independent operator. For partner-centre intros, further students at the same centre within 6 months step down: 1.5 → 1.0 → 0.5 → free on the 4th+. Private cases stay 1.5 each. After the fee, every lesson’s hourly pay is yours.
Every case card displays a Parent Account or Independent Student badge, so you know who you are contacting before you reach out.
What MatchMax does not do
No ongoing percentage
The admin fee per match is everything we take — normally 1.5 lessons. Centre intros use the stepped ladder (1.5 → 1 → 0.5 → free on 4th+) within 6 months at the same centre; private stays 1.5 each.
Don’t run your calendar
You and the parent arrange lesson times directly.
Don’t poach your students
After the introduction and the fee, the student is yours.
